Fenerbahçe Eye Morocco Winger Chemsdine Talbi, but Sunderland’s January Price Could Complicate a Move

Fenerbahçe are reportedly weighing a winter move for Sunderland winger Chemsdine Talbi, but the English club’s valuation of around €30 million could complicate any deal for the Morocco international.

Wide attacking positions have reportedly been identified as a priority area for Fenerbahçe this winter, with a formal opening offer said to have been under consideration, though no agreement has been reached.

Talbi joined Sunderland from Club Brugge in July 2025, with reported fees ranging from €18 million plus bonuses to approximately €23 million. Described as a pacey, direct wide attacker, his versatility across attacking positions is said to have increased Fenerbahçe’s interest. Talbi has been described as a modern innovator on the pitch, a reputation that has only heightened suitors’ interest in securing his signature.

He remains under contract until June 2030, giving Sunderland substantial leverage. The English club reportedly view him as part of their long-term project, and a mid-season sale would leave limited time to find a replacement, making a January departure unlikely without a significant offer.

A move in the winter window would also arrive midway through the Premier League season, a factor that could complicate any negotiation. Fenerbahçe would need to convince Sunderland to part with a contracted player during the campaign, with reported competition from Galatasaray and Saudi clubs adding further pressure.

Talbi’s current market value is estimated at around €25 million, while September reports had placed Sunderland’s asking price near €30 million, above the club’s reported €20 million outlay for the player. Earlier reports from March had cited a considerably higher range of €45 million to €55 million.

Financially, a fee near €25 million would represent a major investment for Fenerbahçe, particularly with an asking price potentially exceeding the player’s market valuation. His reported annual salary of around €2.41 million would add further cost to any deal.

Talbi recorded four goals and two assists in 30 appearances last season. His omission from Sunderland’s Europa League squad has fuelled speculation over his future, with head coach Régis Le Bris acknowledging that a move remained possible following that decision.
