RB Leipzig have reportedly revived interest in Strasbourg winger Samir El Mourabet, with an asking price around €35 million tied to a potential winter deal, far above FotMob’s valuation of roughly €2.9 million and another database’s estimate of about €22 million.
Discussions between the two clubs reportedly took place in August, during the summer window, before the interest cooled.
El Mourabet came through Strasbourg’s academy and holds Moroccan sporting nationality. His contract runs until June 2030, a factor that strengthens Strasbourg’s negotiating position, with no pressure on the club to sell.
The reported €35 million figure has not been confirmed by either club and is described as a potential asking price rather than an agreed fee, likely to apply mainly to a winter deal. It reflects El Mourabet‘s age, perceived potential, and contract length rather than his output this season.
Independent valuations sit well below that number. FotMob lists his transfer value at around €2.9 million, with a historical peak of €4.6 million as of 1 July 2026. Another database estimates his value closer to €22 million — still more than €10 million short of the reported figure, with the gap against FotMob’s number exceeding €30 million.
His season so far has been limited: three Ligue 1 appearances and 135 minutes, with no goals or assists. He has completed 64 passes, two successful dribbles, and seven duels won, for an average rating of 5.05. Beyond the numbers, Samir El Mourabet has been described as a profile in creativity, underlining why some clubs see long-term value despite his limited playing time this season.
Given his limited minutes and the gap between the reported valuation and market estimates, a €35 million deal would be a significant gamble for Leipzig, justified more by long-term potential than current form.
