Neil El Aynaoui joined RB Leipzig on loan from Roma in 2025, for a €4 million loan fee with a €25 million purchase option, and has already made an impact for his new club: wearing number 21, the French-born Morocco international was immediately included in the matchday squad and traveled for the away fixture at Werder Bremen.
The loan deal was structured with a €4 million loan fee and a €25 million purchase option for Leipzig to make the move permanent. El Aynaoui had joined Roma from RC Lens in July 2025 on a five-year contract, in a transfer reportedly worth around €23–23.5 million.
Born in France, El Aynaoui represents Morocco internationally. Neil El Aynaoui has emerged as a rising midfield talent with a growing profile across Europe. Leipzig have registered him as a central midfielder capable of playing either the No. 6 or No. 8 role, with club officials describing him as a fit for their playing philosophy built around intensity and dominance in possession. He was reportedly a preferred target during the summer window to strengthen the club’s holding and box-to-box midfield options.

Through two Bundesliga appearances so far, El Aynaoui has shown early signs of integration. He has covered 21.6 kilometers in total distance, completed 37 sprints and 137 intensive runs, and won 12 tackles along with one aerial duel. He has managed three shots on goal and delivered one cross, without yet registering a goal or assist in the league.
Before his move to Germany, El Aynaoui built a growing reputation across three leagues. In 2024/25 with RC Lens, he made 24 Ligue 1 appearances and scored eight goals. At Roma in 2025/26, he featured in 25 Serie A matches, scoring once and providing two assists, while also making nine Europa League appearances with one goal. Across his career, he has played roughly 130 competitive matches with 17 goals.
His market value stood at around €22.5 million at the time of the Leipzig loan, reflecting his rising profile following performances in France, Italy, and with the Morocco national team, including at the World Cup.
