Three Morocco internationals featured in the final rankings at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards, with Achraf Hakimi finishing 13th in the main men’s category, Ayyoub Bouaddi placing sixth in the Kopa Trophy and Yassine Bounou taking eighth in the Yashin Trophy.

The results were announced at the ceremony in London on Monday, October 26.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane won the men’s Ballon d’Or ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal, while Yamal claimed the Kopa Trophy and Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón won the Yashin Trophy.

Hakimi finishes 13th after sixth place in 2025

Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi finished 13th in the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or voting, seven positions below his sixth-place finish in 2025.

The 27-year-old Morocco international was the only Moroccan player among the 30 finalists for the main men’s award.

Hakimi placed immediately behind Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí and ahead of PSG teammate Vitinha, who finished 14th. Other PSG players in the rankings included Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in sixth, Ousmane Dembélé in seventh and Fabián Ruiz in tenth.

Hakimi’s sixth-place result in 2025 remains his highest finish in the award’s rankings.

The 2026 placing reflects the outcome of the latest voting rather than a direct statistical comparison of his two seasons.

Bouaddi takes sixth in Kopa Trophy voting

Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi finished sixth in the men’s Kopa Trophy standings, which recognize leading young players.

The 19-year-old, listed by the organizers with Lille and Manchester City for the award period, finished behind Yan Diomandé in fifth and ahead of Kerim Alajbegović in seventh.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal won the trophy, with teammate Pau Cubarsí second and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery third. Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl finished fourth.

Bouaddi’s sixth-place finish adds an individual recognition to his early senior career as he continues his development at Manchester City and competes for a place in Morocco’s midfield.

Bounou ranked eighth among goalkeepers

Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou finished eighth in the 2026 Yashin Trophy standings.

The Al-Hilal goalkeeper placed ahead of Senegal’s Édouard Mendy in ninth and Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel in tenth.

Cape Verde international Vozinha was the highest-ranked African goalkeeper, finishing sixth.

Spain’s Unai Simón won the award, followed by Arsenal’s David Raya in second and Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois in third.

Bounou’s inclusion gives Morocco representation among the ten leading goalkeepers in the award’s final voting.

Three Moroccan players across the awards

The 2026 results placed Morocco representatives in three different award categories, covering the main men’s ranking, emerging young players and goalkeepers.

Hakimi remained Morocco’s highest-ranked player in the main Ballon d’Or vote, while Bouaddi and Bounou both finished among the top ten in their respective categories.

None of the three won an individual trophy, but each appeared in the final published rankings of the awards announced on October 26.
