Rahimi Reaches 19, Claiming Al Ain’s All Time Continental Scoring Record

Soufiane Rahimi became Al Ain’s outright all-time leading scorer in the AFC Champions League Elite, netting his 19th continental goal in the 72nd minute to surpass Gyan and Abdulrahman, as Al Ain opened their 2026-27 campaign with a victory that also saw Houssine Rahimi and Giorgos Giakoumakis score.

Rahimi entered the fixture level with Gyan and Abdulrahman on 18 continental goals apiece before his 72nd-minute strike put him outright at the top of the list.

The match was Al Ain’s opening fixture of the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Elite league stage. Houssine Rahimi, also known as El Hassan Rahimi, scored twice, while Soufiane Rahimi and Giorgos Giakoumakis added the other goals as Al Ain secured their first three points of the campaign.

The milestone follows a strong run for Rahimi in the competition. In the 2023-24 edition, he finished as top scorer with 13 goals, matching the tournament’s single-season record previously held by Muriqui, Adriano and Baghdad Bounedjah.

That campaign featured a semi-final hat-trick and a brace in the final as Al Ain won the title, with Rahimi collecting both the Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer awards. Soufiane Rahimi also represents the Morocco national team, which has endured some of its most crushing international losses in its footballing history.
