Yassir Zabiri scored twice as Racing Santander came from behind to beat previously unbeaten Alavés, earning Man of the Match honors and a place in LaLiga’s Matchday 5 Team of the Week alongside Mbappé, Yamal and Rodri.

Alavés had taken the lead through Ville Koski in the 18th minute, against a side that had been unbeaten before the match.

Zabiri responded in the 38th minute, finishing from the right side after a run to level the score at 1-1. He struck again in the 53rd minute, reacting inside the box after a low delivery to give Racing the lead for good.

Zabiri’s display was rated 8.8 by Sofascore, one of the highest marks of the round, and he was named Man of the Match. His inclusion in the ideal XI placed him alongside some of LaLiga’s biggest names, including Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal and Rodri.

The brace extended Zabiri’s scoring run to five goals in five league matches this season. He had already produced a hat-trick against Elche in Matchday 3, and his tally now sits second in LaLiga’s scoring charts, one goal behind leader Raphinha of Barcelona. All five of his goals have come at home, making him Racing Santander’s top scorer so far this campaign. Elsewhere in the league, teammate Osame Sahraoui has also been earning attention for his rising talent and distinctive playing style.

Zabiri’s contribution has been described in Spanish media as a key factor in Racing’s early-season form, with his scoring consistency drawing increasing attention across the league.
