Coach Mohamed Ouahbi has called up six Botola-based players to the Morocco U20 squad, joining several Europe-based selections, with Union Touarga leading domestic representation with three players.
Union Touarga were the most represented domestic club, supplying three players. Mohamed Taha Majni and Fouad Zahouani were named as defenders, while Houssam Essadak was picked in midfield.
AS FAR contributed two players. Goalkeeper Abdelhakim Mesbahi joins a goalkeeping group that also includes Yanis Benchaouch of AS Monaco and Ibrahim Gomes of Olympique de Marseille, while defender Mohammed Kebdani features alongside Europe-based options such as Ismaël Baouf of Cambuur Leeuwarden and Ali Maamar of RSC Anderlecht.
Kawkab Marrakech’s Younès El Bahraoui was the squad’s sixth Botola-based selection, the only one from outside Union Touarga and AS FAR. He is one of several forward options alongside Mohamed Hamony, Othmane Maamma, Yassine Gessime and Mohamed Yassir Zabiri.
Other midfield options based abroad include Naïm Byar of Calcio Foggia 1920, Saad El Haddad of Venezia and Anas Tajaouart of RSC Anderlecht, reflecting the breadth of European clubs represented in Ouahbi’s selection. Several of these emerging talents have passed through the Mohammed VI Football Academy, underscoring its growing influence on Morocco’s national team pipeline.
